MATHULA-GANGANAGAR

GENRAL VIEW

The mound presently lies almost completely under the modern habitation and only a small area of the southern part is being used as a burial ground. The remaining southern part of the mound, measuring about 200 m x 150 mr with an average height of 3 m has yielded Harappan pottery. The main identifiable shapes from potsherds collected from the surface are dishes, perforated jars, storage jars, small goblets etc. The ancient mound has yielded archaeological evidence of Mature Harappan culture (2600 BCE to 1900 BCE).
